Carter Family Picspam
(posting complete)

Still working out the canon here. Daniel Carter and Rose Levin. Jonar Carter. Booster and Michelle Carter. Time-travel, secret identities, secret identity impersonation, and almost-accidental incest. It's all getting very Summers over here.

One Thing: I Love Love Love the idea they're playing around with with Supernova. How do you recognize a superhero? By the costume. And if the costume's masked.....

pics under the cut.

Photobucket

Jonar Carter loses everything, gambling, and walks out on his family when the twins are four. Michael Jon 'Booster' Carter looks up his old man when he hits big in college ball. This turns out to be a mistake. The betting Mike did originally to pay for his mother's operation now goes to feed his Dad's debts, and he gets caught.

Photobucket

Mike is disgraced. Kicked out of Gotham U, disowned by his mother and sister, he gets a job as a nightwatchman at the Space Museum, steals a bunch of stuff, including a mouthy little BX-9 curator/security bot, and comes back to 1986 to be a superhero.

Photobucket

His career as a Super-Model is working perfectly. Goldstar Inc. has a projected income of two million for it's first year in operation.

Photobucket

And then his costume gets damaged. Mike, Trixie Collins, Jack Soo and Rip Hunter travel to the future, 2466, for parts. Mike learns his mother is dead, and is arrested for illegal time-travel. Michelle, his twin who is now four years older than he is, rescues them and returns to 1987. She becomes Goldstar briefly, before being killed in an extra-dimensional invasion of Minneapolis.

Justice League Years. Superbuddies may or may not happen. Identity Crisis. Infinite Crisis. A whole lot of crises happen. OMAC happens. Mike's best friend Ted Kord gets killed.

Mike tries to restart his career, but there's something wrong with Time. Mike tracks down Rip Hunter. 'Skeets' manages to break into the time-lab since the atomic lock has Kord Omniversal chips, making the CPU his "Great-great-great-great-great grandfather" (and that might be interesting to play with, fic-wise. If this was really Skeets. But it's not."

Photobucket

Photobucket

So...Mike and Rip use time-travel so that Mike can double-back, and be Booster Gold and Supernova at the SAME TIME, and then fake his death.

Photobucket

Clark Kent flings himself out a window to get an interview with Supernova (Mike). Because that's how Lois did it. Considering how Supes has thrown a snit-fit over Booster since he came to Metropolis, if this was a popular slash fandom there would be so much foe-sex after this it would eat the internet.

So...Booster Gold is dead. Skeets tracks down his ancestor, Daniel Jonathan Carter...and history repeats itself.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Unfortunately for Daniel, that's not Skeets. Rip Hunter now has a DNA-lock on his lab keyed to Mike, and Dan is close enough within genetic drift parameters to get in.

Photobucket

I'm missing canon here. I don't know how they get Daniel back from 1000000 AD, what happens there for Daniel to become Supernova, Mike to go back to being Booster, or Rip Hunter being whoever the hell he is.

Photobucket

Skeets was being used as a cocoon by Mister Mind...the little worm baddie from the Marvel Family. He metamorphized into a hyperfly. That's him in the last panel. They stop him and fix Skeets.

Photobucket

Daniel, understandably, has a complete nervous breakdown and spends the next six months using the increased stamina and reflexes provided by the Supernova suit to rule at Madden Football on X Box Live. A twelve year old named Matt is his archnemesis. Just the right speed for an insurance agent from Pittsburgh.

Photobucket

Rip takes Booster back to prevent a plane crash that his other direct ancestor Rose Levin happens to be aboard. Rip pulls Booster back before things get too weird. Meanwhile, someone jumps Daniel from behind, in his living room, and takes the Supernova suit, leaving Daniel in his boxers.

Photobucket

And jumps Rip in the timestream and beats the crap out of him. Booster and Rip head back to Pittsburgh: The Present and confirm that Daniel lost the suit. And Rose Levin shows up.

Photobucket

Rip and Mike leave to let nature take it's course and go to set right some more things that went wrong. And run into Supernova 3 again.

Photobucket

Hmmm. Time-travel, a stolen powercloth suit, and a security robot. This beginning to sound familiar to anyone else?

Photobucket

Yep. Jonar Carter. It runs in the family. So...Booster has Daddy Issues. Supernova/Jonar gets away. Booster makes sure that Barry Allen gets hit by lightning, tries to stop Barbara Gordon from being shot and paralyzed like a billion times, but it never works, and Rip tries to explain about Solid Time Events that can't be changed. Booster basically yells 'la la la not listening!' and runs off with the Beetles to save Ted. Getting stuck in an AU timeline full of OMACs where all the other heroes are dead or Max Lord's meat puppets.

Meanwhile:

Photobucket

Oh, you had a moment. And Daniel has a plan. Not a good plan, but this is Daniel we're talking about here. Yes. Rose is attracted to Booster. Daniel tries to pick her up pretending to be Booster. And Booster is their great x 500 years' grandson.

So much therapy is needed here. So much therapy.

Photobucket

Luckily, Rose seems to be the deep end of the gene pool. Though Daniel's attempt to explain the height and hair color difference made me snort cranberry juice through my nose.

Golden age Booster Gold. Good one, Danny.

Photobucket

And Rip pops by one last time. Seriously, Rip, can't you aim for the garage instead of the living room?

In conclusion, Time Travel still gives me a headache.

*poke* Why haven't you posted a link to this on [info]boostle? Dooo eeeeet. I know most of us probably already know the story, but everyone enjoys a good recap. (Well, I do, anyway.)

Note: Did you ever get that CBR file to work for you? If not, I could probably convert it to images online.

I wasn't sure if this was right, yet. I own the two Superbuddies trades and Justice League: A New Beginning, and that's it. The rest is the library's limited collection, and scans I remember seeing back when I first started to get into comics but didn't have an LJ, and scans I've dug up at scans daily and the Boostle memories. (and a notebook full of things like 'Cheesesteak!' and 'Thomas Kord: Father unknown: Mother died lingering death post-stroke' and 'Where is Pago Island?' that's beginning to look like Rip's chalkboard.)

I never did get the file to work right, no. For some reason I just got all the images I'd viewed recently, including my friendslist's LJ icons. I didn't want to pester you with my complete computer idiocy.

whee thank you! It is interesting to see old booster gold scans. I have the thing book you know the inked ones with no colours *anthology?* version of booster gold, wonderful colouring book and seeing the colours makes me glad to have it. I prefer the sleek lines to the colouring from that point.

The Showcase Presents book. I kind of like the black and white images myself. Michael is so very pretty in them, too. The color scans in the older ones are interesting to see how horrible the clothes are, though. Heh.

Like I said in the post, I would love to see more old scans myself. There is very little old Blue Beetle stuff floating around the 'net, and about everything I know about the character (He went to Midwestern U, his father's name was Thomas) comes from scans I've found. Since I can't track down and buy his whole series. I wish they'd do a Showcase book on Ted.

Very handy! I am definitely sticking this in the [info]boostle Memories.

Didn't Booster, Trixie, and co. go to the future the first time because Booster was dying of something-or-other they couldn't cure in 1986/7? Or am I totally making that up?

There is something about a bacterial infection that he either brought with him from the future and it mutated, or he was keeping his force-field up almost all the time instead of acclimatizing his immune system so he got sick when it failed. It didn't make much sense, so I decided to concentrate on his using up the powercells.
